Lakeland Venture Investments has made its first investment in the region, thanks to a relationship with the Tampa Bay Wave.
The undisclosed six-figure amount will be given to JustProtect, a cybersecurity company that made headlines when founder Vikas Bhatia moved from New York City to Tampa. The company is a Tampa Bay Wave company.
"It is exciting — a lot of people don't necessarily think of Tampa and central Florida in general as a Silicon Valley No. 2 [destination] but there's a lot of cool innovative startups and mid-size companies in the Tampa Bay area we're really excited about," said David Ward, business advisor for Lakeland Venture Investments.
